The country’s largest and most established B2B conference convened by Pan Asian Americans – the 33rd Anniversary CelebrAsian Procurement & Business Conference – turned the spotlight on the transformative effects of today’s smart world with focus on accelerated and robust business growth, challenges in talent acquisition and retention, and the application of innovative technology in various industries.
CelebrAsian is the annual national flagship event of the USPAACC (US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce Education Foundation) and the nation’s premier venue – through innovative, first-to-market and business growth-related programs – for procurement and other business opportunities, innovation, and job creation for the more than 2 million Pan Asian American-owned businesses nationwide.
With Conference theme “Smart World: Business – Talents – Technology,” CelebrAsian
presented a strong line-up of programs and expert speakers to share invaluable insight and lead in-depth discussions for the benefit of minority and diverse suppliers. The Conference was held May 29 to June 1, 2018 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
CelebrAsian attracted 20 Fortune CPOs, CTOs, and CIOs, and hundreds of Asian American business owners, suppliers willing to connect with procurement, marketing directors and managers of major corporations, large nonprofits and government agencies.
PepsiCo Chairman & CEO Indra Nooyi served as the Conference Chair and held a fireside chat with USPAACC National President & CEO Susan Au Allen to share her insights into being a visionary leader and shared her journey from India to become Chairman & CEO of PepsiCo and the #2 “Most Powerful Woman in Business,” according to Fortune magazine.
“Employees are not tools of the trade,” Nooyi emphasized during the fireside chat at the Excellence Awards Dinner. “They are assets of the company.”
“We were delighted and honored to have PepsiCo Chairman & CEO Indra Nooyi serve as our Conference Chair for a record fifth time,” said USPAACC’s Allen. “Her sustained support of USPAACC through the years reaffirms her steadfast commitment to our mission of providing access and opportunities to diverse businesses, propel innovation, job growth and create economic parity for our constituents in the mainstream.”
Strong support from the financial industry – Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, and Wells Fargo – along with automotive giant Nissan – showed the value placed on USPAACC and the ROI they realize from their partnership.
Co-chairing the Conference were established Pan Asian American businesses Ampcus, Indotronix Avani, and Pyramid Consulting, who continue to appreciate what USPAACC does in speaking for Pan Asian American businesses and connecting them to the right people, at the right place, at the right time.
Procurement opportunities were abundant with about 500 prescheduled 1-on-1 business matchmaking meetings held between top-caliber Asian American suppliers and serious buyers from Fortune 1000 Corporations, government agencies, and large national nonprofits.
The Guanxi* Business Fair (*a business term meaning “connections” or “relationship”) was held concurrently with the Prescheduled 1-on-1 Business Matchmaking Meetings, where exhibitors showcased their products and services.
