Wonder Women Tech’s Washington DC Conference was a Resounding Success

Wonder Women Tech (WWT) shook up the norm in DC while encouraging women and the underrepresented to consider careers in STEAM industries (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). It takes a team to change the world and Wonder Women Tech made sure to host some of the brightest, successful women and men to speak, share and encourage future generations to step up to the plate.

Kicking off their event on April 30th, The Embassy of Italy graciously hosted a full evening which started with a Modcloth fitting for success. Experienced speakers from U.S. Department of Treasury, Microsoft, Innovazing, TIS Foundation, Spectrum Circle and Miss United States 2018 gathered to mentor and share. Wonder Women Tech founder, Lisa Mae Brunson, moderated the panel through discussions revealing vulnerable stories, experiences with failure and career development beyond the struggles presented in male dominated fields. The following day was packed full of exhibitors, a career fair, speakers, panels and the signing of new partnerships at the Embassy of France for the DC Conference. Guests were able to interact with exhibitors in the STEAM field such as Google, Samsung, Deloitte, Amazon, and many more!

Inglot Cosmetics provided a beauty booth to achieve a classy business look paired with Adriana Escalante Photography to capture some powerful professional headshots. During a catered lunch, mentoring and resume review specialists were available to help guests develop and tweak resumes to push them into a new future! Keynote speakers from TRI-COR Industries, Inc., Former Chief of Staff to Congress Woman, Terri Sewell and Americas at Bloomberg LP shared vital information and encouragement by revealing stark statistics, personal experiences, and real world advice to change the status quo. Forty talented business women and men dedicated time to speak and share their vulnerable moments to empower the audience to take action by using tools to improve the statistics of women in STEAM. For a full list of speakers and panel members, please refer to Day 2 at the Embassy of France here. This event was not without monumental surprises!

The second half of the conference, WWT’s Founder presented a group of legislative women from Brazil, their newest conference location. In a show of support for women and the underrepresented around the world, these courageous women signed an agreement pledging a new partnership and cross border dedication to support and increase a movement for women everywhere. Staying true to their theme this year, #WeAreFuture, Wonder Women Tech pulled out all the stops creating opportunities for a future and current generation of women to push into STEAM fields.

The success of these events could not have been accomplished without the drive of the people behind WWT, the support of the DC community, the beautiful embassies of Italy and France that opened their doors, and the generous support of our sponsors and partners.
